Regenerative design is a process of thinking in “deep time”. Regenerative means reasoning in seasons, cycles, and generations.

It is a direct response to histories of extracting material and labor. Regenerative design moves beyond being "less bad" to actively repairing and replenishing our social and ecological fabric.

It is not a checklist, but a mindset: to create buildings and spaces that leave the world more healthy, whole, and resilient than we found it.

I work as a connector—weaving this ethos into the practical realities of regulatory code, craft, and community.

The 25 Guidelines of Bioconstruction

Based on Las 25 pautas de la bioconstrucción developed by the Instituto Español de Baubiologie IEB:

INDOOR CLIMATE

• Reduce pollutants and irritants and provide sufficient fresh air
  Reducir sustancias contaminantes e irritantes y aportar suficiente aire fresco

• Reduce the presence of toxic fungi, yeasts, and bacteria, as well as dust and other allergens

• Use materials with neutral or pleasant odors
  Utilizar materiales con olor neutro o agradable

• Minimize electromagnetic fields and high-frequency waves

• Prioritize radiant heat for heating

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

• Use natural, non-toxic materials with the lowest possible radioactivity.

• Ensure a balanced ratio between thermal insulation and heat accumulation, as well as between surface and indoor air temperatures.

• Use hygroscopic materials.

• Minimize moisture content in new construction.

• Optimize the conditioning and acoustic insulation of spaces (including infrasound).

• Observe harmonious proportions and shapes

• Minimize the energy consumption and use renewable source

• When building or renovating, avoid negative impacts on the environment

• Favor local construction systems, elect materials and life cycles with the best balance ecological possible

• Ensure the best possible potable water quality

• Design infrastructure with a balanced mix of uses: short distances to workplaces, public transportation, schools, shops, etc.
  Diseñar infraestructuras con una combinación de usos equilibrada: distancias cortas a centros de trabajo, transporte público, escuelas, comercios, etc.

• Favor a way of living that meets human needs and protects the environment.
  Favorecer una forma de habitar que satisfaga las necesidades humanas y proteja el medioambiente

• Provide sufficient green space to rural and urban residential areas.
  Proveer de suficiente espacio verde a áreas residenciales rurales y urbanas

• Strengthen local self-sufficiency and the participation of local service networks and providers.
  Fortalecer la autosuficiencia local y la participación de redes y proveedores de servicios locales

• Select construction sites that are not contaminated by harmful waste, radiation sources, pollution, and noise.
